Your Funeral Set List?

I was walking past an old lady this morning and she looked as if death was not far from taking her.  Poor dear.  The sight of this frail old woman who had perhaps lived an interesting life led me to ponder over a question asked of me many years ago now when I was in my early twenties.  Which songs would you have played at your funeral?  It’s a tough thought process to contemplate because if you are anything like me, there are literally hundreds of songs that could fit the agenda.  Of course, you don’t want to go overboard and bore the living fuck out of the punters who have come to remember you so my thoughts are to keep it to just ten swift songs.  Get in, have a cry over me then sod off to the boozer and listen to these boss tunes over a few pints.  Simples!

I’ve always been fascinated by the songs that people would love to be buried to.  My list was rather spontaneous so perhaps you should make yours the same and let me know what they are?

1:  The Walker Brothers – Nite Flights

2: Kate Bush – And Dream of Sheep

3: Nina Simone – Wild Is The Wind

4: Crowded House – Better Be Home Soon

5: Nick Cave – And No More Shall We Part

6: The Proclaimers – 500 Miles

7: Billy Bragg – Sexuality

8: Queen – Another One Bites The Dust

9: Jackie De Shannon – Needles And Pins

10: David Bowie – Ashes To Ashes
