39 People, Places & Things….

Just last week, I was handed a USB stick of music by a co-worker who shares an incredibly similar taste in film, art and music.  We are able to share some cracking stories and thoughts about our interests.  And, I have to say, it is always refreshing to enjoy the company of people who can inspire you.

So the USB stick sat in my bag for a couple of days before I felt compelled to discover its contents.  Needless to say, I enjoyed every moment of what was laid out for me.  One band stuck out in particular though.  A young American outfit that go by the name of Beach House.

The album in question, Bloom is a most delicious work of sub pop art.  With its dreamy melodies and haunting synth driven sounds, Bloom is the sort of album you could imagine yourself listening to whilst driving along the baron surrounds of Route 66.  Now, since I don’t drive, I am going to suggest a few beers on a deserted beach somewhere as this album has the potential to become a repeat offender.  So far, I have listened to Bloom no less than eight times in a few days.

I mustn’t be alone as the album sold in excess of 41,000 copies in the first week of release alone.  And clicking in at just over an hour, Beach House have mastered the art of not going too far with a good thing.

More than enough proof for me once more that you can never stop discovering new things in life!
