39 People, Places & Things….

Whilst he may have been well before my time, it stands to show the amazing legacy a man like Gough Whitlam has on our society then and still does to this day.  His legacy is rarely equaled and will never be bettered.

In his short time as Prime Minister of Australia, Whitlam introduced free education for all, indigenous land rights, no fault divorce, developed sewage systems for the suburbs, installed anti-discrimination and environmental acts as well as investment in the arts and theater.  He was indeed a visionary who never took a step backwards in coming forward. I studied his legacy in high school for a short while and it does leave me wondering why more politicians in this country seem unable to enact as much change for the better as Gough was able to do.

For a short while not too many years ago now, I considered making a move into politics but soon came to the knowledge that I was never going to be one to play along with the utter bullshit that appears to be so rampant in today’s political structure.  For the time being anyway, I shall have to continue to be the change I wish to see and keep writing letters to MP’s when I feel they are not doing their job with enough attention to detail.
