Is it time to help yourself?

A friend of mine has recently come to me with her ongoing multiple problems in life.  We have not spoken much in recent years as we have both moved in different circles.  The strange thing about this to me is that she has also been telling the world know through Facebook of the endless drama following her in life.  Some of these problems, one could argue would be best left within the private confines of her inner circle of near and dear friends and not en mass to the 1,563 “friends” on a social media website.

This all begs the question of when do we stop looking to blame others for things going wrong in life and start taking responsibility for our own actions?  And how do we define the limits of what we post on social media for all to see?  After all, we have choices to make in life.  It is the choices that define us and direct the path we lead.

I learnt many years ago that if you want change in the world around you then the only way to see the change is the be the change you desire. Things can and will go pear shaped in our day to day lives.  It is hear where we have the option to keep moving forward.

From the past five years working within the medical industry I have found many rising issues relating to alcohol and substance abuse. Coupled with a national divorce rate over 65%, record credit card debt and ongoing increases in electricity, food, petrol and other living pressures it is easy to understand how people in general are sucumbing to the pressure of modern society.

Our western society is full on flash cars, big houses and lifestyles of over indulgence.  Perhaps our first world problems would be reduced significantly if we took a step back and began to enjoy the simple things in life.  Perhaps we should start walking and running more instead of driving everywhere?  Perhaps we should be picking up literature instead of posting pictures of our cappuccino’s on Twitter and Instagram?

Perhaps, most of all we should learn to enjoy the basics in life?  You only have once crack at life so get out there and make every post a winner!
